Our original carafe was glass that held 12 cups. Well worth the extra cost even though you lose 2 cups. We're thinking of purchasing a second for dinner parties.

This item was delivered very quickly and is just wonderful! I now have an extra carafe which makes it very convenient when I have friends over to make more cups of hot coffee. When I am making coffee just for myself the coffee stays hot a very long time in this carafe. I love it!
 Cuisinart CCC-600RC much better than glass carafe September 9, 2009

I was looking to replace the glass carafe that had broken. While the cost of this stainless carafe was more than I thought it should be (more than 1/3 the cost of the entire unit, including the glass carafe), the stainless carafe does hold the coffee hotter (for a while, but not for "hours"), longer than the glass. More importantly, I suppose, it doesn't break. Also, with the stainless carafe, the coffee pours out very slowly. I suppose that's due to the heat retention integrity built into the design of the plastic top part of the stainless carafe.

Even though this pot is not supposed to 'go' with my Cuisinart 12-cup (model #DCC-1200) Coffeemaker, I purchased it anyways. I cracked the original glass pot that came with the coffeemaker, and I didn't want another glass replacement. This carafe is 2 cups smaller than my 12-cup machine, so I have to remember that when I'm making coffee for crowds! However, I took the gamble and hoped that it would fit my machine...and it fits beautifully! My only complaint is that unless I pre-warm the carafe with hot water for a few minutes before brewing the coffee, the coffee only stays warm, not hot (even right after brewing). Hence, the 4 stars...

We broke the handle on the original and this purchase was a replacement. This carafe does an excellent job keeping our coffee hot.
